Champions League: PSG beat Barcelona 4-2 as Liverpool win a seven-goal thriller

PSG beat Barcelona 4-2, Liverpool came from 2-0 down to beat Villarreal 4-3 and Phil Foden scored a hat-trick in Manchester City's 5-1 win over AEK on Champions League Matchday 3.
Forty goals in nine games. Tuesday night in the Champions League had a bit of everything: a late winner in Paris, a comeback at Anfield and a first Champions League hat-trick for Phil Foden.
Paris Saint-Germain beat Barcelona 4-2 in the big one. Désiré Doué put PSG ahead on 38 minutes, and Xavi Espart equalised on his Champions League debut. Lucas Hernández headed PSG back in front from a corner, Lamine Yamal levelled again on 79, and then PSG scored twice in five minutes. Vitinha hit one from outside the box and Fabián Ruiz tapped in the fourth on 86. Both teams lost a player to injury early on, with Ousmane Dembélé and Dani Olmo off inside 26 minutes. PSG are top with nine points. Barcelona, who had won every game this season until now, drop to fifth.
Liverpool were 2-0 down after half an hour against Villarreal. Georges Mikautadze scored on four minutes after a poor Virgil van Dijk header, and Sergi Cardona doubled the lead on the counter. Then it turned. Alexis Mac Allister headed one back, Ronald Araújo equalised just before half-time, and Mac Allister and Florian Wirtz scored three minutes apart after the break. Tani Oluwaseyi's goal on 87 minutes made for a nervy finish, but Liverpool held on to win 4-3. Eighteen-year-old Rio Ngumoha was one of the stars of the comeback.
Phil Foden scored his first Champions League hat-trick as Manchester City beat AEK Athens 5-1. Elliot Anderson opened the scoring, Stavros Pilios pulled one back for AEK early in the second half, and Rayan Cherki and Foden made sure of it from there. Erling Haaland was rested. After losing 4-2 to PSG last week, City needed that.
Napoli beat Bodø/Glimt 4-3 in the night's other seven-goal game, and Roma cruised past Slovan Bratislava 4-0.
Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund won 2-1 at Sabah, PSV Eindhoven won 1-0 at Porto, Fenerbahçe drew 2-2 with Slavia Praha and Stuttgart drew 1-1 with Atlético de Madrid.
Matchday 3 finishes on Wednesday night with Bayern München v Arsenal, Real Madrid v Leipzig, Como v Manchester United and Aston Villa v Viking. Kick-off times, team news and where to watch every match are on the OnlyFootballFan blog.
