Nations League results: France hit four

The October internationals finished on Tuesday. France beat Belgium 4-1, England saw off Czechia 3-0, and Spain won 2-1 away in Croatia. One window of the league phase remains.
The Nations League went quiet on Tuesday night, and France were the team that made the most noise before it did. Four goals against Belgium is a long way from the two 1-0 away wins Zinédine Zidane opened his time in charge with.
England finished their week with a 3-0 win over Czechia, and Spain went to Croatia and won 2-1 — the sort of away result that usually settles a group rather than opens one up.
Sunday had been the busier night. Greece and Germany drew 0-0, which leaves Jürgen Klopp still searching for the kind of performance that settles the mood around his Germany side. The Netherlands beat Serbia 2-1 under Xavi Hernández. Portugal saw off Norway 2-1, and Wales lost at home to Denmark, a result that undoes a lot of the good work from their win over Norway. Italy added a 3-1 against Türkiye on Monday.
That is four matchdays gone and one window left. The league phase closes between 12 and 17 November, and several groups go into it with more than one side still able to finish top.
Club football has them all back from this weekend, which is its own kind of problem for whoever picks the teams on Saturday.
