Everton beat Newcastle to set up a Carabao Cup date with Fleetwood

Everton won 3-1 against Newcastle and will play Arsenal's conquerors Fleetwood in the quarter-finals. In Serie A, Frosinone thrashed Lecce 5-1.
Everton are through to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, and they know who's next: Fleetwood, the League Two side who knocked out Arsenal on Tuesday.
James Garner, Hayden Hackney and Thierno Barry scored for Everton in a 3-1 win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Thursday night. Dan Burn got one back late on for Newcastle. Here's the odd part: Newcastle had 28 shots to Everton's 11. Defensive mistakes cost them, and head coach Matthias Jaissle called his side "naive."
The quarter-final at Fleetwood is in December.
In Serie A, Frosinone beat Lecce 5-1, which takes them up to sixth on 17 points. Fiorentina and Atalanta drew 2-2 in the late game.
That finishes the midweek round in Italy. The big one is on Saturday: Milan against Inter, with Inter level on points with Lazio at the top.
